r. Van Arsdell moved to Knoxville in 1994. He first spent three years in joint
practice with Dr. Paul Watson, who is now retired, before beginning his
solo practice in 1997. He currently also serves
as the Medical Director for Little
Creek Sanitarium, a premier local nursing home.
Before coming to Knoxville, Dr. Van Arsdell
spent two rewarding years as a
physician at mission hospitals in Thailand and Singapore.
Although he enjoys all aspects of medicine,
he relishes the challenges of
diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions. Dr. Van Arsdell also gains
great satisfaction
from helping his patients implement lifestyle changes to
dramatically improve overall health. He’s been a medical advisor to the
community-based
Coronary Health Improvement Project (CHIP), a comprehensive
lifestyle educational program that is proven to substantially lower blood
lipid levels,
blood pressures, and blood sugar levels while also helping with weight loss and
decreasing the need for prescription
medications.
EDUCATION
Dr. Van Arsdell earned his bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from Andrews University
in 1983. He then received his medical school training at Loma Linda University in California, graduating in 1987. From 1987-1991 he
completed his Internal Medicine residency at Kettering Medical Center in Ohio.

is specialty certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and licensed by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners.
PERSONAL
Dr.
Van Arsdell and his Canadian wife, Joan, have been married since 1986 and are very blessed to be the parents of an active young son,
Lane, born to them in 2002.
